Tate
by Susan May Warren

Tate, the second book in the Susan May Warren Montana Marshalls series, releases July 9, 2019. It continues the story introduced in Knox, book one. With just the right mix of romance and suspense, it’s an engaging read.

It’s hard not to love the Marshall men, and Tate is my favorite so far. I may change my mind when Ford is released later this year, though. His story is introduced in  Tate and seems very intriguing. I’m looking forward to reading it. But, I digress. This review is about Tate and Glo.

I think Tate is a great character. He’s tough on the outside, but has a tender heart, which left me feeling all squishy inside. I had less warm and fuzzy feelings about Glo. And truthfully there were several times, I would have cheered if Tate had told her to take a flying leap. Some characters are harder to like and for me she was one of them.

Of course, this is romantic suspense so there has to be a HEA, and in the end, I liked Glo well enough to keep my rating at five stars. She may not go down as one of my favorite heroines, but she is complicated and that makes her interesting.

Tate is Christian fiction, so there are many references to God, Jesus, praying, and faith. All the things you should expect from a Christian book. I like the Christian element and hope non-Christians will read it and judge it on its overall story, and not get fixated on the fact it talks about Christian things. Warren isn’t preachy, in my opinion, and she doesn’t hide the fact she writes Christian fiction. So, no one should be surprised by it.

While it will make more sense if you read Knox first, Warren provides enough back story so you won’t be lost if Tate is the first book you read.

Have you read Tate? How did you feel about it? Did you like Glo? Could you relate to her? Did how she thought and acted make sense to you?
