Honeysuckle Dreams – A Bouquet of Hope, Faith, and Love

I have a new boyfriend and he’s everything a girl could ever want in a man. He's handsome, selfless, loves children, has a good job, and is totally swoon worthy. I could go on and on, but I don’t want to brag, especially since I can't see this romance going anywhere. Unfortunately, he isn’t real, but you can read all about my absolutely divine book boyfriend, Brady Collins, in Denise Hunter’s new book Honeysuckle Dreams that released today.

This sweet, clean, faith-filled romance gets five-stars, and here’s why:

First, it has some real life lessons.
  • We all have baggage and how we deal with our baggage affects more than just us. We need to deal with it no matter how painful it may be.
  • If we love someone, we’ll fight for them even if it means challenging the norm or swallowing our pride.
  • We all want to be chosen for who we are and not for what someone thinks we can do for them.
Second, there’s Brady. I’m a total sucker for a man with a giving heart. He isn’t perfect, but he’s solid, generous, likeable, and so full of selfless love it made me want to cry. Swoon worthy moments abound whenever Brady’s around.

Third, I liked Hope Daniels, the heroine. She’s spunky, generous, and mostly selfless too; however, it’s her tragic past and reluctance to deal with it that creates the relationship-threatening crisis for the couple. She made me want to shake her, but I never stopped liking her.

Fourth, there are quasi-villains. The maternal grandparents of Brady’s son Sam are not only trying to get custody of Sam, but they rock Brady’s world when they reveal Sam isn’t really his son. It seems their dead daughter was a lying, conniving woman who tricked Brady into marriage and then divorced him before she died.

Fifth, I liked the Christian elements expressed through the faith of the main characters. You can enjoy this story no matter what you believe because Hunter isn’t preachy and never rams Christianity down readers’ throats.

Sixth, it’s a clean read. You won’t find any graphic sex or body part descriptions and no foul language. However, you will discover as part of the back story that Brady had premarital sex with Sam’s mother, which resulted in his being hoodwinked into marriage.

Finally, I’d read it again.

Honeysuckle Dreams is the second book in the series A Blue Ridge Romance. Characters from Blue Ridge Sunrise play a small part in this story, but don’t fret if you haven’t read it first. Hunter gives you just enough history so everything makes sense, and nothing in the plot hinges on what happened previously.

What about you? Have you read Honeysuckle Dreams? What did you think?

Note: I received an Advance Reader's Copy; however, my pre-ordered copy arrived today.

  2. I loved this book. I like how you broke down the main themes of the story. Those would entice me to read this book if I hadn't already! The characters were so likable, weren't they?
