Storm Front - A Whirlwind of Drama and Romance

Storm Front is the latest installment of the Montana Rescue series by Susan May Warren. I've been anxiously waiting for its release because I wanted to see how Ty Remington, one of the beloved PEAK Rescue team members, and his love interest Brette Arnold would be reunited. If you're new to the series, Brette disappeared, of her own accord, in the third book A Matter of Trust. Ty's and Brette's story did not disappoint.

However, at least half of the book focused on Kacey Fairing and Ben King. This is where I had the problem because I simply don't like Kacey. They started the series, and it seemed by the end of the first book and subsequent books their romance was working. Unfortunately, throughout most of this book, it was once again fraught with strife. And really the strife comes about because Kacey is a selfish ninny. Except for the fact she loves her daughter Audrey, which actually is questionable if you know the whole story, there is nothing I like about her.

Despite the Ben and Kacey parts of the story, Storm Front was enjoyable. There were some lovely, swoony moments between Brette and Ty. Brette has faced a health crisis, which was one of the parts of the book I could most identify with. When you actually face death, it has a profound affect on you that touches every aspect of your life. I felt her fear and the uncertainty she had about her future. But, I must say, Ty is not someone I would have run away from. He's a great guy facing his own fears and feelings of uncertainty, but his love for Brette never wavered.

Where wild fires caused problems in previous books, tornadoes wreak havoc in this one. This was actually a nice change and could be a great setup for a new series about storm chasers.

There were several key points I pulled from Storm Front.
  • First, when we let fear rule us, we really don't make good choices. Fear clouds our ability to see what is best for us.
  • Second, sometimes we have to be willing to make compromises for love. It's not up to just one person in a relationship to make love work. It requires both people to be willing to not get their way in every situation.
  • Finally, God is always there for us. We just have to stop trying to control everything in our own ability.
Storm Front is a sweet, clean, Christian book, but because I was sick of Kacey in book one and the fact she takes up so much space in this book, I can't give it a five-star rating. However, it is a solid four-star.

Have you read Storm Front? What did you think about it? If you've read the series, which book has been your favorite?

  1. I liked Ty’s story and he was quite dreamy but I am more than ready to get to Pete and Jess. I think think we’ve waited long enough! 😉
