Grateful American
by Gary Sinise
Grateful American
held my interest throughout. There were times I laughed out loud at the things
Sinise did in his youth, and more than a few times I wept over a story of
a service person or a family member of a fallen hero. It reminded me of how
much some American’s sacrifice so we can enjoy all of the freedoms we have, and
it challenged me to show my gratitude for those sacrifices.
Sinise never comes across as trying to blow his own horn.
He’s always quick to point out other people who are working to make a
difference, and I certainly got the sense he does all he does because he truly
is grateful to be an American. He’s worked hard to achieve success, but his
heart is most definitely a heart of compassionate service.
From start to finish, Gary Sinise weaves a story of passion,
purpose, and perseverance. Qualities, I believe our forefathers had when they
founded this wonderful nation, and qualities Gary Sinise exemplifies today. Grateful American really should be required
reading in schools, so young people can see how selfless service can change the
world.
