Knox
by Susan May Warren

Knox, the first book in the new Susan May Warren Montana Marshalls series, kicks off things with a bang.

Warren creates characters you fall in love with right from the start, and she’s done it again with the Marshall clan. We were first introduced to the Marshall’s in Burnin’ For You, which featured the oldest Marshall sibling Reuben. Knox is the second oldest and the one who’s been left in charge of running the ranch while his other siblings pursue their dreams.

When Knox meets Kelsey Jones, lead singer for the Yankee Belles, a nice romance ensues along with a mystery. Knox and Kelsey’s mystery is resolved, but another mystery is introduced to whet your appetite for the next book in the series. It is my understanding there will be books for Tate, Ford, Wyatt, and Ruby Jane before this series concludes. Also, you’ll see a few characters from other Susan May Warren books pop up. I liked that since it was like catching up with old friends. Knox is romantic suspense at its finest.

As with any Warren book, there is a lot of discussion surrounding faith. The majority of literature I read now is considered Christian-based, so I like that she weaves God into her stories. The faith portion of the book never seems preachy in this first-rate story. I would hope, even if you weren’t a Christian, you could see the merits of the story and appreciate it.

Knox is a clean, suspenseful romance that sets up the series nicely.
